Published 17th August 2007, Newton NewsThe sunny weather on Sunday 26th August contributed to the picnic atmosphere of the Party in the Park, which again turned out to be an excellent event.
The day was organised by David MacDonald and Robert Malvern. Dave assembled a programme of talented musicians, many returning from last year having developed in the meantime. The team of technicians provided professional support. Bob, chairman of Newton Aycliffe Sports Club, managed the whole event. With the Party having been staged for the second year, it is hoped that the annual show will get bigger and better in the future.
Music was provided by various bands, including one from the Candlelight Club, which meets on Tuesday nights at the Club. Music from all genres was performed: Ill Fated Riot entertained with Punk, whilst other bands entertained with jazz (Experiment), country and western (Carolina Star), rock (Bubblegum Thrash and 16 Minutes), indie (Black Label) and popular music from other decades including the acts Diversity, Jane Beacher, Hannah English and Mickey Rich .
Young and old were impressed with the music; one young woman saying that she had been looking forward to the day and had really enjoyed it. Pictures from the event can be seen at www.ayclifferugby.co.uk/Party.php
